## What are parts (terminology) of a fractions?

Mainly fractions have three parts; numerator, denominator and fraction line or solidus. Printable fractions worksheets can be obtained by going online to practice and learn about the parts of the fraction.
1. Numerator: When a whole is cut into many parts, the number of parts we chose or consider out of total number of parts is called the numerator of the fraction. For example; in fraction 2/5, 2 is the numerator. Numerator is always written on the top of the fraction.

2. Denominator: The total number of parts (sections) a whole is cut into is called the denominator of the fraction. For example; in fraction 2/5, 5 is the denominator of the fraction. Denominator is always written at the bottom of the fraction.

3. Fraction line or solidus: The line separating the numerator and denominator of a fraction is called the fraction line or it is also called the solidus.
